Please contact the office if your child is going to be away sick or for any other reason. It is important for the safety of our children that we know that those children who are meant to be at school have arrived safely.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY:

Ballance School provides 1-1 devices (including chromebooks and laptops) for our students and we are working towards developing our digital technology programme in accordance with the Ministry of Education guidelines.


FINANCIAL INFORMATION:

DONATION SCHEME FOR STUDENTS IN 2024

The Board of Trustees of Ballance School have agreed to opt into the Government’s new school Donation Scheme. This means that school will receive $150 per student as part of its Operational Grant at the start of 2024.

The payment replaces the need for the school to request donations from parents/caregivers. 

Year 7 & 8 Students are required to pay $35 per year towards Technology fees this covers the 'take home' component of Technology.

FRUIT FOR SCHOOLS

We are lucky enough to receive fresh fruit weekly for our students to enjoy.


PRE-SCHOOL VISITS:

Pre-schoolers can have school visits prior to starting school. Please discuss with the Principal, Brenda Sutton. These days and times will be decided between the parent and Brenda. 

As we have no direct affiliation with any pre-school, we cast our net far and wide, and welcome all visits, all pre schoolers are invited to attend our pet day!

New entrants need to bring a birth certificate or passport when enrolling.


SWIMMING:

Ballance School is lucky enough to have our own heated Swimming Pool!

Swimming lessons will be taken every warm day throughout the swimming season.

Pool keys are available for families and community to purchase at a cost of $30 plus $10 key bond a season. Key holders will be recorded in a register and must abide by the pool rules.


SCHOOL TIMETABLE:

9:00am – 10:30am     First session 

10:30am – 11:00am   Interval (First 10 minutes eating time)

11:00am – 12:30pm   Second session

12:30pm – 1:30pm       Lunch (First 10 minutes eating time)

1:30pm - 3:00pm        Third session


TECHNOLOGY:

Year 7 & 8 students attend Technology classes at Tararua College in Pahiatua 4 times a term, where they receive instruction in Workshop Technologies, Food Technologies, Fabric Technologies etc.

There is a technology fee of $35 per student. This is to assist the cost of materials used by children
